These are just my initial thoughts. I have no clue when we would realistically be able to tackle something of this magnitude. But here are the thoughts anyway:
Resource permitting, I would like to develop a Qur'anic translation system that would have:
- Qur'anic text in Arabic
- Lane, Lisan al Arab, etc.
- Arabic grammar engine
- Qur'anic Ethics engine
- Qur'anic Philosophy engine
- Qur'anic Doctrines engine
- Hadith engine.
- Sirah engine.
- Any other rules engine that may be necessary.
One of the major goals is to "show hands". That is, to explicitly declare various overall rules. The steps of development of such system, in itself, would be a great intellectual exercise.
The end goal is to generate instant holistic translations in any language, and to put Qur'anic translators out of business.
The project would be a major departure from the atomistic handling of the Qur'anic verses by Muslim scholars as well as translators. |
